SCARS OF SERVICE is more than a memoir—it is a journey still being written. Rather than waiting until the final page is complete, I invite you to follow along as each part of the story unfolds. Here, I will periodically share writing updates, reflections, milestones, and the lessons that continue to shape both the memoir and the SCARS OF SERVICE Foundation

The Foundation carries its purpose forward.
What began as one man's journey became a commitment to help others prepare wisely, preserve the facts, and navigate life's most difficult professional challenges with clarity and confidence.
Because every lesson preserved today may become someone's guidance tomorrow.

WRITING
Manuscript Development
Current Status
Part I of SCARS OF SERVICE has been written.
As I sit in Okinawa, Japan continuing to write, I am now approximately 85% through Part II — United States Marine Corps, with the manuscript currently at 434 pages.
Based on the story still ahead, I currently estimate the completed manuscript will be approximately 650 pages, although that number will naturally change as the story develops and later moves through editing and review.
One decision has remained unchanged: I intend to write the entire story before turning the manuscript over for formal editorial and publication review.
I don't want the publication process driving the story. I want the story to determine when it is ready.
Once the Marine Corps portion is complete, the manuscript will transition into post-retirement life, including the experiences that ultimately led to SCARS OF SERVICE and the creation of the Foundation.
There is still a great deal left to write.
Part I is complete. Part II is underway. And the journey continues.
EDITING
Editorial, Documentary & Pre-publication Review.
Following completion of the full manuscript, SCARS OF SERVICE will enter a comprehensive review process that may include professional editing, fact verification, documentary and legal review, and any required pre-publication review.
Given the scope of the story—from military service and intelligence assignments to later workplace and administrative experiences—accuracy, documentation, context, and responsible presentation will remain central to that process.
The goal is not to change the story.
The goal is to ensure the story I lived is presented as accurately, responsibly, and authentically as possible.
RELEASE PREPARATION
Book trailer, publication announcement, and release date.
While the full manuscript is being written, selected excerpts and scenes from SCARS OF SERVICE will continue to be released as manuscript snapshots, giving readers an opportunity to experience portions of the journey before publication.
These previews will feature material appropriate for public release while preserving sensitive portions of the manuscript for any necessary review.
The manuscript snapshots will span different periods of the story—from childhood and family to military service, leadership, sacrifice, humor, adversity, and the experiences that eventually gave SCARS OF SERVICE its name.
Following completion of the manuscript and all necessary reviews, the next phase will include the book trailer, publication announcement, and official release date.
