Here, I will periodically share writing updates, reflections, milestones, and the lessons that continue to shape both the memoir and the SCARS OF SERVICE Foundation

Why This Book Exists
The book preserves the story.
The Foundation carries its purpose forward.
What began as one man's journey became a commitment to help others prepare wisely, preserve the facts, and navigate life's most difficult professional challenges with clarity and confidence.
Because every lesson preserved today may become someone's guidance tomorrow.
Why “Scars of Service?”
Every scar tells a story.
Some are earned in combat.
Some while protecting communities.
Some while standing for principle.
Some while simply refusing to compromise integrity.
This book is about all of them...
beginning with mine.
Most people notice scars before they notice the person who carries them.
Some scars are easy to see. They run across my arms and legs, permanent reminders of a childhood accident that nearly claimed my life the day before my ninth birthday. Others are hidden beneath a uniform that no longer hangs in my closet—beneath years of military service, followed by administrative and intelligence work, and experiences that forever changed the way I see people, leadership, and justice.
Some scars were earned in a hospital bed.
Others were earned on distant battlefields.
But not every scar is visible.
Still others were earned in places I never imagined would leave wounds at all: offices, conference rooms, and institutions built on trust, where doing what I believed was right came with consequences I never anticipated.
The wounds I never expected became the ones that would redefine service, integrity, and purpose in ways I never imagined.
Every scar has a beginning. This is mine.

Manuscript Development
Current Status
Part I of SCARS OF SERVICE has been written.
I am now actively writing Part II — United States Marine Corps, which is approximately 20% complete.
One decision I have made during this process is to allow the entire story to be written before turning the manuscript over for formal editorial and publication review. I don't want the publication process driving the story. I want the story to determine when it is ready.
Once the complete manuscript is written, it will undergo professional editing and fact verification, along with documentary, legal, and any required pre-publication review.
This is particularly important because portions of my career involved the intelligence community and because later portions of SCARS OF SERVICE will address difficult events that must be presented carefully, accurately, and responsibly.
There is still a great deal left to write.
Part I is complete. Part II is underway. And the journey continues.
EDITING
Editorial, Documentary & Pre-publication Review.
Following completion of the full manuscript, SCARS OF SERVICE will enter a comprehensive review process that may include professional editing, fact verification, documentary and legal review, and any required prepublication review.
The goal is to preserve the truth and authenticity of the story while ensuring the final manuscript is accurate, responsibly presented, and ready for publication.
RELEASE PREPARATION
Book trailer, publication announcement, and release date.
While the full manuscript is being written, selected excerpts and scenes from SCARS OF SERVICE will be released as previews, giving readers an opportunity to experience portions of the story as the journey unfolds.
These manuscript snapshots will feature material appropriate for public release while preserving sensitive portions for required review.
Following completion of the manuscript and all necessary reviews, a book trailer, official publication announcement, and release date will be released.
