A Lifetime of Service.
A Legacy of Integrity.
Integrity should NEVER cost someone their career.
Service does not end when the uniform comes off. Neither does our responsibility to one another.
The SCARS OF SERVICE Foundation helps individuals navigate complex workplace, administrative, and oversight challenges; provides a responsible platform for voices to be heard; and shines a light on documented wrongdoing and failures of accountability—grounded in facts, evidence, education, mentorship, and principled advocacy.
WELCOME TO THE FOUNDATION
Character is built over a lifetime. Integrity is proven when that character is tested.
My name is Roosevelt Dunn Jr.
Master Gunnery Sergeant, USMC (Ret.)
For nearly 35 years, across military and public service, I had the privilege of serving my fellow citizens. Throughout that time, integrity, accountability, and service were the principles that guided every chapter of my life.
This Foundation is more than the story of one man's life. It is a commitment to preserve my experiences and the documentary record supporting them, while encouraging thoughtful discussion about character, accountability, and public trust.
Its success will be measured not by my story, but by whether the lessons learned help others navigate their own journeys with greater clarity, confidence, and hope.

Why This Foundation Exists
For nearly 35 years, I had the privilege of serving my fellow citizens. Throughout that time, integrity, accountability, and service were the principles that guided every chapter of my life. When I retired from the Marine Corps, I believed I had overcome the greatest challenges of my life.
I was wrong!
The most difficult chapter of my journey began only after I removed the uniform. It began with a workplace conflict that could not be resolved through informal efforts at the lowest level, requiring the matter to move into formal administrative processes. I never imagined that what started as a workplace conflict would evolve into years of documentation, administrative proceedings, Freedom of Information Act requests, a determined search for the truth, and consequences that would permanently change the course of my life.
As I worked through those processes, I realized my experience was not unique. The systems designed to address workplace concerns were often difficult to understand, the available guidance was fragmented, and finding clear, reliable information proved far more challenging than I ever expected. It became clear that if someone with decades of leadership experience, military discipline, and investigative experience struggled to navigate these systems, others without that background could face even greater challenges.
What surprised me most was not simply the complexity of those processes, but how difficult it was to find clear, reliable information to navigate them effectively. As I have throughout my life, I became determined to bridge what I saw as a serious gap by helping others navigate those processes with greater clarity, confidence, and understanding. That realization became one of the driving forces behind the SCARS OF SERVICE Foundation.
As the process unfolded, I encountered situations that raised serious questions about accountability, transparency, and ethical decision-making at several levels. Those experiences reinforced my belief that individuals need practical resources and a clearer understanding of the processes available to them when workplace concerns arise.
The complete story is told in my upcoming book, SCARS OF SERVICE, where I share the events that shaped my life, the lessons I learned through decades of service, and the experiences that inspired this mission.
Strong institutions depend upon public trust. Public trust depends upon accountability. Accountability depends upon informed people who understand the processes available to them and feel confident using them.
When individuals believe they cannot safely raise concerns, when witnesses fear speaking honestly, or when administrative systems become so complex that people cannot effectively navigate them, confidence in those systems can erode.
Every decision made within an organization has the potential to affect a career, a family, a reputation, and a life. Those entrusted with such responsibility should exercise both sound judgment and ethical decision-making with integrity, accountability, fairness, and respect for the people impacted by their actions.
The SCARS OF SERVICE Foundation exists to help individuals better understand complex administrative processes, preserve facts, organize evidence, and navigate available avenues with confidence and integrity. We believe informed individuals, ethical leadership, and transparent processes strengthen organizations and the public trust they depend upon.
Our Principles
The SCARS OF SERVICE Foundation is guided by the principles represented in the acronym SACRIFICE. The word SACRIFICE reflects both the values that guide our work and the sacrifices often made by individuals seeking answers, accountability, and a fair opportunity to be heard. Each principle represents a commitment to ethical leadership, informed decision-making, and service to others.
-

Service
